The crescent visibility map below for Ramadan 1446 (RHS) shows that the moon will be born on 28 February 2025 at 00:45 GMT/UT, but will not be visible by the naked eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco region on that date (except by Optical Aids). However, on 1 March 2025, the moon will be easily visible in the UK and most countries of the world. Hence, Ramadan is most likely to start on 2 March 2025, InShaAllah. Mr Hendrik Stahlberg commented: "No moon seen in Essex, partly cloudy skies, but good conditions. ".

Seen after sunset: On 28 Feb 2025, ICOUK member Mr Juned Patel from Kingsbridge (Thurlestone) City in the Devon (Cornwall) County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Binoculars.
Mr Juned Patel commented: "I saw the moon with binoculars (25x100) at 18:27 for a few seconds, then it disappeared behind the thick atmospheric conditions and haze. The moon's Altitude at Observation Time: +2.17° and the Sun's Altitude at Observation Time -5.75° (Submitted on 1/3/2025 - Admin)".

Mr Faruq Bilbe commented: "After a day of varying cloud cover, again the clouds congregated on the western horizon just in time for the sunset. There was insufficient break in the cloud to allow such a faint crescent to be seen".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was an exceptionally clear and sunny day in York today (28/2/2025) and in most of the UK. We had a few York Astronomical Society members set up with telescopes to spot the crescent moon, but unfortunately it was not seen due to a dark bank of clouds covering it. All the other planets (e.g. Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, etc.) were seen clearly by telescopes, except the moon. However, we have received a positive sighting report by binoculars from Cornwall (Kingsbridge) and so our Ulama Panel accepted the testimony, as we had a recent fatwa to do so (from senior Muftis of Darul Uloom Karachi, Pakistan)".

Announcement for start of Ramadan 1446 AH
On Friday, 28th February 2025 (29th Shaban 1446 AH), the Hilal of Ramadan 1446 was sighted in the UK (Local), according to the rules of Shariah with binoculars (Ref: Karachi Darul Uloom Fatwa [2683/41] > [2569/20]). Therefore, Shaban 1446 AH will have 29 days, and the month of Ramadan 1446 AH will start on Saturday, 1st March 2025, InShaAllah.
