UK Hilal Testimony/ Declaration: On Monday, 12th October 2026 (29th Rabi-II 1448 AH), the Hilal of Jumada Al-Ula 1448 was not sighted in the British Isles (UK), according to the rules of Shariah. Therefore, Rabi-II 1448 AH will complete 30 days, and Jumada Al-Ula 1448 AH will start on Wednesday, 14th October 2026, InShaAllah. The 1984 Moon Sighting Criteria Review
Over 350 senior Ulama from the UK and abroad attended a London conference in 1984 and agreed that all efforts should be made to sight the crescent moon on the UK horizon when there is a geographical possibility of the moon being on the UK horizon. On Sunday, 11 October 2026, there is no possibility of sighting the moon on the UK horizon (as it's moonset-before-sunset), so what's the ruling? The 1984 UK Moon Sighting criteria, [see video] based on Fatwa Rahimiyyah (v.10/p.209), states that the moon must be sought on the UK horizon when there is a geographical possibility, before considering any foreign news. The 1448 Hijri table shows that if we start or end the month based on UK moon sightings, then following a far-distant foreign country could lead to 28 or 31-day months! Therefore, it is against the Shariah for the UK to follow a foreign country like Saudi Arabia (SA) or South Africa (ZA)!
