This is the official website of the Islamic Crescents Observation for the UK (ICOUK). The ICOUK is a non-profit organisation, established in October 2008 by Eng Qamar Uddin and a few other active members of ICOP in the UK, including Shaykh Suliman Gani. The main objective of ICOUK is to revive the Sunnah of Local Moon Sightings on the 29th day of each lunar month throughout the year and then disseminate the results via the Internet and Social Media channels. The ICOUK is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), which is authorised and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. It is also registered with HMRC to add Gift Aid to your donations.
There are over 100 members at present, which includes many Shariah scholars, scientists, engineers and other professional Muslims. The vast majority of our members are UK residents, but from 1439/2018 we have decided to accept membership requests from nearby countries (i.e. within UK/Morocco region) who wish to share their moon sighting reports with us. All others are kindly requested to join our International ICOP group.
