Not seen after sunset: On 28 Mar 2017, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from London City in the Wandsworth County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "Did not have a good observation point in Tooting (South London). However the western horizon was totally cloudy".

Not seen after sunset: On 28 Mar 2017, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York so the Hilal was not seen or expected to be seen".

Not seen after sunset: On 29 Mar 2017, ICOUK member Ms Jamilah Amal from Liverpool City in the Merseyside County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Ms Jamilah Amal commented: "Assalam alaikum, I was unable to sight the moon this evening (Wednesday 29th March) due to it being very cloudy. I observed the skies prior to the magrib prayer and for approximately 15 to 20 minutes afterward, where it became apparent that I would be unable to see it. If the sky would have been clear I would have expected to see it. Therefore the month of Rajab begins after completing 30 days of Jumada Al-Thani.".

Seen after sunset: On 29 Mar 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Easily seen. sky was clear. the day before it wasn't seen even though sky was clear too.".


Announcement for start of Rajab 1438 AH

On Tuesday 28th March 2017 (29th Jumada Al-Akhira 1438 AH) the Hilal of Rajab 1438 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1438 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rajab 1438 AH will start from Thursday 30th March 2017, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban and Dhul Qa'dah.
