Mr Tahir Mahmood commented: "The sky was filled with dense clouds and even the sun was not seen setting half an hour before its due time. The crescent [moon] was not seen and therefore a negative sighting is here submitted".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was partly cloudy in York today, but the sunset area was fairly clear. However, the moon was not seen after sunset as was expected on the day of a solar eclipse witnessed in many parts of the UK. A solar eclipse shows the New Moon Conjunction (or BIRTH of the moon) to the human eye and it is not possible to see the Hilal until the next day (in the same region!). Mr Juned Patel commented: "On Friday, 11th of June 2021 between 19:00 to 23:00 (Sunset 21:39 & Moonset 23:02) at Location: Rivington Rd, Bolton, UK; we a group of 10 people attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Dhul Qaidah. I saw the moon through a telescope eyepiece, but did not try with Binoculars, and could not see with naked eyes. We also had a guest scholar from Manchester (Maulana Samiruddin Qasmi HA) joined our group and was very positive about our UK moon sighting efforts, MashaAllah".

Quite hard to spot initially as it was just a thin white crescent against the light blue sky, but once seen I could look away and look back and find it again quite easily".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "I was easily able to see the sunset point today well before sunset and even though most of the sky was cloudy, the area to the left of the sunset was fairly clear. However, after sunset it became very cloudy and the moon was not seen from York, but it was sighted from elsewhere (eg. Bolton, Dewsbury etc), Alhamdulillah".

Mr Hatim El-Harrak commented: "In the name of Allah the Merciful. We tried to spot the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah 1442 AH in Tangiers on Friday evening, Shawwal 30, 1442 AH corresponding to June 11, 2021 AD. The crescent was seen with the naked eye. And the first day of the month of Dhul-Qa’dah is Saturday, June 12, 2021".
Announcement for start of Dhul Qa'dah 1442 AH
On Thursday 10th June 2021 (29th Shawwal 1442 AH), the Hilal of Dhul Qa'dah 1442 was not sighted in the UK to Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view). Therefore, the month of Shawwal 1442 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Dhul Qa'dah 1442 AH will start from Saturday 12th June 2021, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement for Dhul Qa'dah (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar).
