Not seen after sunset: On 07 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Crawley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Modoris Ali commented: "It was raining and cloudy, today".


York

Not seen after sunset: On 07 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars or Telescope.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "There were 7 of us from York Astronomical Society looking for the moon of Rajab 1440, but it was totally cloudy in York. There was a small break in the cloud after sunset on the Western horizon where we saw the orange glare of the sun but it was soon covered by cloud. Most of the UK is also cloudy today so we hope to hear from nearby countries with positive sighting results within the next few hours, inshaAllah".

Seen after sunset: On 07 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Prof Hassan Talibi from Benslimane City in the Casablanca-Settat County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "كان هلال هذا الشهر صعبا في الرؤيا رأيناه بعد مرور قرابة 30 دقيقة من آذان المغرب وصورناه بصعوبة. Translation: It was difficult to sight the Hilal of this month but we saw it nearly 30 minutes after Morocco's sunset with difficulty".

Seen after sunset: On 07 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Prof Abdelhadi Akarandou from Dakhla City in the Region De Oued Eddahab County (Morocco) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Telescope.

Not seen after sunset: On 08 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "As yesterday, it was totally cloudy in York after sunset today".


Saudi Arabia

Seen after sunset: On 08 Mar 2019, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Jeddah City in the Makkah Province County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Seen easily some 10 Min after local sunset. Then seen for about 1hr".


Announcement for start of Rajab 1440 AH

On Thursday 7th March 2019 (29th Jumada Al-Akhira 1440 AH) the Hilal of Rajab 1440 was not sighted in the UK, but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1440 AH will have 29-days and the month of Rajab 1440 AH will start from Friday 8th March 2019, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
