Mr Younes Foster commented: "Sky with blanket medium-high cloud".

Not seen after sunset: On 08 Nov 2018, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Cradley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I couldn't see the moon, the skies were partially cloudy".

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "The two of us [I and Muhammad Irfan from Iqra Tv] attempted to sight the crescent after sunset. We arrived at the vantage point but could not locate the exact location of the setting of the sun as the sun disappeared behind the clouds at least half an hour before sunset".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was totally cloudy in York today (8/11/2018), but I still went to the same place where I saw the sunset in clear sky a few days earlier (on 31/10/2018). If it was clear today, I would have had a good chance to see the moon, if it was possible to do so by the human eye".

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "رصد الهلال في مناطق كثيرة في المغرب وعليه فقد ثبت ثبوتا شرعيا Translation: The sighting of the crescent has been reported from many areas in Morocco and therefore the start of the new month is proven to be [Islamically] legitimate".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "First found Jupiter at 5.40pm by binoculars. Then to the right of Jupiter and below saw crescent first by binoculars and at 6.00pm local time, I was able to see the crescent moon for Rabiul Awwal 1440 by naked eye until it disappeared behind the mountain where earlier (5.35pm) the sunset took place. Mr Imad Ahmed commented: "I went to see the second day of sighting to see if the crescent of Rabi al Awwal is possible to see. I picked am excellent location with a clear view of the horizon - Beckton, in East London. but it was too overcast to see. I could barely see the sunset or any stars, or planets, let alone the moon".

Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH
On Thursday 8th November 2018 (29th Safar 1440 AH) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Safar 1440 AH will have 29-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1440 AH will start from Friday 9th November 2018, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
