Not seen after sunset: On 12 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Cradley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I was at the local mosque at 8:40 pm, 3 minutes before Maghrib Jamaat tried looking for the moon. After finished Maghrib prayer, then spent 7 minutes looking for the moon again,but could not see it. When I got home,I tried looking for the moon.9:05pm to 9:20pm,could not see the moon. Then I checked Noor TV,732. The scholars (Ulamas) has announced that Monday 13 August 2018 as first Dhul Hijjah ".

Not seen after sunset: On 12 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed from Crawley City in the West Sussex County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Rainy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed commented: "I was planning to go to our usual sighting area with some other brothers but due to heavy rain near sunset time and thick clouds we are unable to go and still all over Crawley same condition therefore unable to spot the moon".

Not seen after sunset: On 12 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "Some brothers went to Riddlesdown Common location (Purley) before sunset. It was totally cloudy. We could not carry out a proper sighting because of cloud and rain after sunset ".

Eng Suleman Aboo commented: "The weather was totally cloudy and the crescent was not visible at Wanstead flats (Leyton)".

Not seen after sunset: On 12 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Mr Mohammad Baig from Slough City in the Berkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Binoculars.
Mr Mohammad Baig commented: "After months of clear skies we had [it was] totally cloudy horizon all day and right into the night. ".
Thirsk
Not seen after sunset: On 12 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from Thirsk City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.
Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "There were 3 of us who came to Sutton Bank (Thirsk), 1000 ft above see level to sight the Hilal of Dhul Hijjah. Unfortunately, it was totally cloudy, but we saw a very nice view of the horizon without any obstructions or light pollution. Our group comprised of myself (Qamar Uddin, York), Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel and Mehboob Issa (Dewsbury). Note, we have received positive sighting reports from other countries including Morocco".

Seen after sunset: On 13 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Batley City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "I went to Batley Soothill with Mr Mehboob Issa. We first saw it just after Magrib prayers from the masjid car park at 9.00pm. It quickly got covered by a large cloud. We then went a little up the Soothill Road and waited some 30 minutes to catch this wonderful 30th day (1st day ZulHIjjah) Crescent".

Seen after sunset: On 13 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Mr Juned Patel from Bolton City in the Lancashire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Juned Patel commented: "On Monday, 13th of August 2018 (1 Dhul-Hijjah 1439 AH) between 20:35 to 22:00 UTC (Sunset 20:42 & Moonset 21:59 UTC) at Location: B6226, Chorley Old Road, Bolton, Lancashire, UK +53°35'37"N, -2°29'24"W / Altitude: 220m Height; I saw the crescent moon (Hilal) of 2nd Dhul-Hijjah. The Crescent has been sighted at 20:39 just for 30 seconds and then got hidden behind the dense clouds, and orientation was from 1 to 7 O’clock.".

Seen after sunset: On 13 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Dr Feras Tuma from Cardiff City in the Wales County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Dr Feras Tuma commented: "I was able to see the crescent easily with the naked eye. It was seen from the middle of Cardiff. The image was taken with DSLR Canon camera 1200D".
Nuneaton
Seen after sunset: On 13 Aug 2018, ICOUK member Mr Imran Patel from Nuneaton City in the Warwickshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Announcement for start of Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH
On Sunday 12th August 2018 (29th Dhul Qa'dah 1439 AH) the Hilal of Dhul Hijjah 1439 was not sighted in the UK due to adverse weather, but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Dhul Qa'dah 1439 AH will have 29-days and the month of Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH will start from Monday 13th August 2018 (making Eid-ul Adha to be on Wednesday 22nd August 2018), InShaAllah.
Significance of Dhul Hijjah (first 10 days)
1. Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah)." He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?" He (ﷺ) replied, "Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it." (Bukhari, Book 9, Hadith 259)
2. Abu Qatadah (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of Arafah (9th of Dhul Hijjah). He said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year." (Muslim, Book 9, Hadith 260)
Note: We have received reliable reports from Saudi Arabia that none of the official Hilal Committee astronomers were able to sight the moon (5 hours old, 2 deg altitude) yesterday (11 August 2018), but the usual early-sighers from near Riyadh (Sharqra/Tomair) have claimed a sighting and the court had accepted it. Saudi Scientist believes this is caused by the psychological bias of the Ummul Qura calendar date (running ahead of visibility), creating an image of the crescent moon inside the memory of the witnesses, even though it is not possible to be physically sighted by the human eye. The advice by Saudi Ulama to Muslims outside Saudi Arabia is they should not follow the moon sighting reports of Saudi Arabia and should make their own arrangement based on the Sunnah of local sighting.
