Not seen after sunset: On 14 Jun 2018, ICOUK member Dr Shahid Merali from Birmingham City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.
Dr Shahid Merali commented: "From the top of Clent Hills, 5 of us tried to observe the crescent between 20:30 and 22:00 (before and after sunset), both with and without binoculars. The horizon was part-cloudy. The crescent was not seen.".
Cradley Heath
Not seen after sunset: On 14 Jun 2018, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Cradley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Modoris Ali commented: "After I had iftar and prayed Maghrib,then I was looking for the moon. I only done the observations for 7 minutes. Couldn't see the moon. Then received message from local mosque for Eid ul Fitr on Friday".

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "Over 250 people joined us to observe the Hilal to mark the end of Ramadaan at Riddlesdown Common Park in Purley, South London on Thursday 14 June 2018/29th Ramadaan 1439. The Hilal was not sighted with optical aid. The Hilal was NOT SEEN with the naked eye. However, reports of POSITIVE sighting were received from multiple locations in Morocco by Imad Ahmed of the New Crescent Society, so Ramadaan has been completed in 29 days, and we welcome 1st of Shawwal. Eid Mubarak to all. May Allah Accept from us and from you, aameen. Salaams".

Eng Suleman Aboo commented: "Assalaamu alaikum, I was unable to see the crescent as was forecasted. I have therefore taken a few pictures after sunset".

Not seen after sunset: On 14 Jun 2018, ICOUK member Mr Akhlakuddin Razzaque from Riddlesdown City in the London borough of Croydon County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars or Telescope.
Mr Akhlakuddin Razzaque commented: "Over 200 people gathered on Riddlesdown Common with Shaykh Suliman Gani. Due to cloud cover we were not able to sight the hilal of Shawwal. However reports of sightings abroad reached us via instant messaging.".

Mr Mohammad Baig commented: "It was an extremely unlikely sighting and weather was partly cloudy also".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "Hilal of Shawwal 1439 was not sighted by binoculars or by naked eye from Marrakech (Morocco), but it has been easily sighted from many other places South of Marrakech including Dakhla. Eid ul Fitr in Morocco will be tomorrow Fri 15 June 2018. Our Marrakech group included Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel, Imad Ahmed, Qamar Uddin from UK and 10 local observers to include councillors and ministry officials.".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Lot of haze on horizon. First saw Venus 5 min after local sunset. We were 60m high up on the minaret of Koutbiyya masjid. We failed to sight crescent.".

commented: "I and my uncle Hafiz Dr Ayyub saw the crescent moon for a long time. First, it was behind some clouds but after about 30 min from sunset, we were able to see it clearly. [Well done to Hafiz Hamzah for his Hilal photo, from the eyepiece of a binocular (24/6/2018) - Admin]".

Seen after sunset: On 15 Jun 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "I have just returned to UK from Morocco and was pleased to be able to find the quite good weather in York after sunset. However, there was a patch of a dark cloud where the Hilal of Shawwal was in the sky, on the far left side of the sunset position. The Hilal became clearly visible about 20 minutes after sunset and it was easily seen by the naked eye for about 3 minutes before it was covered by a thick bank of clouds. Fortunately, I had the camera setup on a tripod and was easily able to take the wide and narrow view photos of the Hilal as well as a quick video within the short time available. Announcement for start of Shawwal 1439 AH
On Thursday 14th June 2018 (29th Ramadan 1439 AH) the Hilal of Shawwal 1439 AH was not sighted in the the UK, but it was sighted in the Morocco region. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Ramaadan 1439 AH will have 29-days and the month of Shawwal 1439 AH will start from Friday 15th June 2018, InShaAllah. Eid Mubarak!
