Seen after sunset: On 16 May 2018, ICOUK member Ms Asma Ghani from Birmingham City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Ms Asma Ghani commented: "This picture was taken in Lickey Hills Birmingham. The crescent was in sight for 20-30 mins".
Cardiff
Not seen after sunset: On 16 May 2018, ICOUK member Dr Feras Tuma from Cardiff City in the Wales County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Telescope.
Dr Feras Tuma commented: "I was with brother Hassan Saifallah, Sajad Ahmed, Ruslan Pirilov on Caerphilly Mountain. There were good conditions but there was a small block of clouds blocking western horizon But we had a good time, Alhamdulillah".
Cradley Heath
Seen after sunset: On 16 May 2018, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Cradley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I was walking back from home from the local mosque. I had seen the moon. When I arrived home, [at] the front garden I could still see the moon. It was 9:25 pm to 9:30 pm".

Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed commented: "Myself, Br Razmil and Br Ifaz attended to sight Ramadan crescent, the sky was partly cloudy [but we] spotted it after sunset ".

Mr Akhlakuddin Razzaque commented: "I attended moonsighting with Shaykh Sulaiman Gani at Pollard's hill on 16th May 2018. I managed to see with the naked eye for a short time, enough for me to point the camera in correct direction and focus - I managed to capture two images. Then crescent was hidden by clouds. There were approx 20 people in attendance. [Well done for this great shot & thank you for the late report, 19/5/2018 - Admin]".

Mr Saidahmed Molvi commented: "Alhamdulillah, I have seen the crescent moon with the company of Usman Tambu. We have sighted the moon off the A47 towards Peterborough near Uppingham. Ramdhan Mubarak to all the Muslim Ummah [photo added 28/5/2018 - admin]".

Ms Jamilah Amal commented: "Sighted hilal approximately 10 minutes after sunset. The horizon was quite cloudy but was able to see the moon".

Eng Suleman Aboo commented: "Assalaamu Alaikum, I and 4 other people witnessed the crescent for Ramadhan at 21:12 today at Wanstead Park in East London. The crescent was very thin and could only be seen using Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ82 camera and binoculars. Sighting with naked eyes was made 5 minutes later. Mr Maqsood Fazel commented: "First seen by binocs at 21:25 and then by naked eye at 21:37. Crescent was very faint".

Mr Javed Rafiq commented: "Clear on the western horizon. Saw a bright star at 21:15. by 21:30, it was cloudy on the western horizon, so could not observe anything".

Seen after sunset: On 16 May 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars and Telescope.
Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "York Hilal was seen at 9.15pm by telescope, 9.25 pm by binoculars, 9.35 pm by the naked eye. There were 4 of us in the group from York Mosque plus one astronomer who saw the Ramadan Hilal clearly via, a Meade LX200 GPS telescope, 10x50 binoculars and naked-eye. Photos and video recordings were made using mobile phones. Further details can be provided upon request.".

Not seen after sunset: On 16 May 2018, ICOUK member from Abha City in the Asir County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.
commented: "Totally cloudy very heavy rains of blessings for Ramadan".
Announcement for start of Ramadan 1439 AH
On Wednesday 16th May 2018 (29th Shaban 1439 AH) the Hilal of Ramadan 1439 was sighted in the UK as well as in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Shaban 1439 AH will have 29-days and the month of Ramadan 1439 AH will start from Thursday 17th May 2018 (1st Tarawih from the night of Friday 16th May 2018), InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia normally announce the start of Ramadan on their SPA (www.spa.gov.sa) website.
