Not seen after sunset: On 16 Feb 2018, ICOUK member Dr Nazish Ashraf from Bolton City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Dr Nazish Ashraf commented: "Very cloudy, not seen (as expected)".

Not seen after sunset: On 16 Feb 2018, ICOUK member Ms Jamilah Amal from Liverpool City in the Merseyside County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Ms Jamilah Amal commented: "Observed skyline with naked eye prior and after sunset. I was unable to see crescent due to very cloudy weather conditions".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Saw Venus by naked eye and binoculars but no crescent. Sky was very clear".

Seen after sunset: On 17 Feb 2018, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Birmingham City in the Sparkhill County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "After attempting the observation outside the Birmingham Central Mosque, I could not spot the Hilal. The western horizon was densely clouded. However, as I was driving on Stratford Road [with] my family and I sighted the crescent moon. I turned onto Erasmus Road but could not stop as it was one-way. We recited the masnoon dua loudly, Alhamdulillah".

Eng Suleman Aboo commented: "Alhamdulillah, the crescent was seen at Wansted Park in East London. A camera with 60x zoom was used for the close up picture. [Winner of the "Spot the moon photo competition" for Jumada-II 1439/February 2018 - Admin]".

Mufti Zaheer Aslam commented: "Maghrib was at 5:25, after that I went up to the highest floor of the house in the attic, I looked in a westerly direction but not completely West as the view was blocked by the house. North West West, and south west west. I scanned the whole sky in that direction that I could see but couldn't see anything. I am not experienced, have tried a couple of times before but no luck yet. Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "On Saturday 17th February 2018, I was joined by a number of people from York and Leeds at the grounds of York Astronomical Society and we were able to see the Hilal of Jumada al-Ukhra 1439 initially by telescope/binoculars soon after sunset at 5:25 PM GMT and by naked eye after Maghrib prayers at 5:45 PM. The group from York were me (Qamar Uddin) and Noor Bakayoko plus three other astronomers (who helped identify the moon first) and from Leeds were, Maulana Foyzul Hasan Chowdhury and Maulana Sadiqur Rahman who saw the crescent moon for the first time in the cloudy UK weather, Alhamdulillah. Seen after sunset: On 17 Feb 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "At sunset time there was a big herd of clouds on the western horizon but a clear window was opening. It took about 1hr for us to see the crescent moon just before its time to set. Abha local time 715pm".
Announcement for start of Jumada Al-Akhira 1439 AH
On Friday 16th February 2018 (29th Jumada Al-Ula 1439 AH) the Hilal of Jumada Al-Akhira 1439 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view) (although there was a small possibility of a sighting with difficulty by the Moroccan Army/Navy in Dakhla).
Therefore, the month of Jumada Al-Ula 1439 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1439 AH will start from Sunday 18th February 2018, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
