Not seen after sunset: On 18 Dec 2017, ICOUK member Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar from Bolton City in the LANCASHIRE County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: "Crescent was not sighted in Bolton due to heavy clouds and rain.".
Croydon
Not seen after sunset: On 18 Dec 2017, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.
Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "The two of us observed (Mufti Yusuf and Imam Suliman) came to Pollards Hill North Location at sunset time. The hilal could not be sighted with the naked eye. We also attempted the sighting with a powerful binoculars".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Not seen. Too young crescent. sky was clear but a little hazy near sunset".

Mr Modoris Ali commented: "Could not see the new moon, it was totally cloudy [in Cradley Heath]".

Mr Mohammad Baig commented: "Heavy clouds in Slough once again so no sighting was possible".

Seen after sunset: On 19 Dec 2017, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.
Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "I have traveled over 6 miles outside York city to a more suitable location for moon sighting (i.e. lower light pollution and clear western horizon), but due to heavy traffic, I had missed the sunset time. However, I was able to locate the correct position in the sky to observe the moon using binoculars (10x50) and I saw it about 4.30 pm and by naked eye about 10 mins later (4.40 pm). I spoke to Shaykh Sulayman Gani on telephone to who was with the BBC filming crew to report my successful sighting of the moon, as shown in the photographs taken later. Another astronomer colleague (MD) also sent me a message that he also sighted the moon and has taken photographs too. Seen after sunset: On 19 Dec 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.
Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Easily seen some 15-20 minutes after local sunset. first seen by binoculars then easily seen by naked eye for about 30 to 40 min until it set behind mountains. The local magrib time sunset was at 5.40pm".
Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Thani 1439 AH
On Monday 18 December 2017 (29th Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 AH) the Hilal of Rabi-ul Thani 1439 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rabi-ul Thani 1439 AH will start from Wednesday 20 December 2017, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
