Not seen after sunset: On 18 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "Partly cloudy, Hilal not seen. Most of UK was totally cloudy/raining".

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars.
Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Despite very clear sky we report NO naked eye or binocular sighting. By sunset the moon's age was about 3 hours and it was setting behind sunset by only a few minutes. For this reason Saudi Ummul Qura calculated calendar makes the 19th Nov as 1st Rabi-ul Awwal 1439. We predict a positive sighting tomorrow, making the 20th Nov to be the actual real 1st of Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 in sha Allah".

Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I couldn't see the moon as it was cloudy today [in Cradley Heath]".

Not seen after sunset: On 19 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed from Crawley City in the West Sussex County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Razmy Nazeer Mohamed commented: "Myself and Br Muzammil attempted to observe [the moon] crescent today but western horizon of sky was totally cloudy and unable to see by naked eye".

Seen after sunset: On 19 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Binoculars.
Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: "The observation of the crescent was recorded by the BBC. We were joined by 12 others. We recorded the location before sunset. We observed the setting of the sun. We offered our prayers. After sunset we started our observation with the naked eye. Mufti Yusuf Danka first spotted the Hilal with a very powerful binoculars. The Hilal was sighted. I could not see it with the naked eye. I also attempted the observation with the binoculars and sighted the crescent for the month of Rabi-ul Awwal".

Not seen after sunset: On 19 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Mr Farsan Mansoor from Leicester City in the Leicestershire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Farsan Mansoor commented: "My self and three others went to sight the moon on 19 - Nov - 2017 but have not seen it as the sky was partly cloudy".

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "I was hoping to easily see the 28 hrs old moon today, but it was totally cloudy in York after sunset. However, I understand a group of observers from Croydon have been able to sight it and so did Morocco, Alhamdulillah".

Seen after sunset: On 19 Nov 2017, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.
Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Abha sunset 5.35pm local time, first saw the crescent via binoculars at 5.52pm It was easily visible to the naked eye at 5.57pm. It remained on the mountain horizon til 6.15pm. See attached photo. by 6pm moon age was about 26-27 hours. By reporting waning report of 17th morning at 6am and today's waxing crescent at 6pm local time, we calculate the hidden phase called mahaq [in Arabic] to be 60 hrs [2.5 days]".
Announcement for start of Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 AH
On Saturday 18th November 2017 (29th Safar 1439 AH) The Hilal of Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region. We have also received a negative report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the month of Safar 1439 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Rabi-ul Awwal 1439 AH will start from Monday 20th November 2017, InShaAllah.
Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
