However, on 5 July 2016 the moon will be easily visible in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Shawwal is most likely to start from 6 July 2016.

Mr Vashiullah Bodiyat commented: "Group of observers attempted to sight the crescent. Negative sighting.".
Not seen after sunset: On 05 Jul 2016, ICOUK member Ms Fatema Mulla from Batley City in the West Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Not seen after sunset: On 05 Jul 2016, ICOUK member Mr Mohammed Zabhier from Birmingham City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Mohammed Zabhier commented: "Mostly clear but clouds on horizon making sighting difficult. Used phone and SkyMap app for orientation of moon. Not sighted due to cloud cover.".

Not seen after sunset: On 05 Jul 2016, ICOUK member Dr Feras Tuma from Cardiff City in the South Glamorgan County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Telescope.
Dr Feras Tuma commented: "There was a small amount of scattered clouds but overall the sky visibility was good. At the time of sunset I searched the western horizon for the crescent and was unable to locate it both visually or with my telescope. There was seven of us extra Muslims from the mosque and we could not spot it. [Location was Caerphilly mountain, near Cardiff , Wales]".

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "From 9.40pm till 10pm tried to see close to where sunset was. Due to some clouds and the fact that crescent moon was too low on the horizon, we report negative sighting".

Dist. Bharuch, Gujarat, India we attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Shawwal. And the Crescent has not been sighted. Overhead sky was partly clear but horizon was cloudy. ".

Mr Khaiam Shabbir commented: "Due to cloudy conditions we were unable to spot the new moon.".

Mr Juned Patel commented: "On Wednesday 6 July 2016 (30 Ramadan 1437 AH) between 19:35 to 19:45 UTC (Local Sunset Time was 19:25 UTC & Moon Set Time was 20:59 UTC) at 21.921246N 73.078896E Makka Masjid, Palej, Ta. Dist. Bharuch, Gujarat, India we attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Shawwal. And the Crescent has been sighted easily.".
Announcement for start of Shawwal 1437 AH
On Tuesday 5th July 2016 (29th Ramadan 1437 AH) the Hilal of Shawwal 1437 AH was not sighted in the UK even though some places have clear sky. However, it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the UK Ulama have decided that the month of Ramaadan 1437 AH will have 29-days and the month of Shawwal 1437 AH will start from Wednesday 6th July 2016, Insha-Allah. Eid Mubarak!
Note that Saudi Arabia started Ramadan 1437 AH 1-day ahead of UK/Morocco, but decided to complete the month as 30-days (same as their Ummul Qura calendar) resulting their 1st Shawwal 1437 AH to be also on Wednesday 6th July 2016. We are unable to find their official Hilal Sighting announcement for Shawwal on www.spa.gov.sa website as they normally publish for Ramadan, but it can be seen on Fatwa-Online website.
