Announcement for start of Jumada Al-Akhira 1437 AH

The Hilal of Jumada Al-Akhira 1437 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco region on Wednesday 9th March 2016 (29th Jumada Al-Ula 1437 AH). We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the UK Ulama have decided that the month of Jumada Al-Ula 1437 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1437 AH will start from Friday 11th March 2016, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months). However, we have been informed that none of the official Hilal Committees have sighted the moon on Wednesday 9/3/2016, either. Note also that there was a total solar eclipse earlier in the day, where millions of people witnessed the birth of the moon by the human eye (without relying on astronomical calculations)!
